Thanks for checking out my page!

Admiring Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, Austria

I am diving into the world of music teacher blogs and Teachers pay Teachers! I'm excited to share products and join the amazing, vibrant online community of music teachers.

“The fact that children can make beautiful music is less significant than the fact that music can make beautiful children." -Cheryl Lavender

I love this quote! I include it in my e-mail signature at school to remind me (even on the rough days... let's be honest, we all have those!) that what we do as music teacher is SO very important. We are in the business of changing lives, adding beauty to the world and allowing our students to express themselves through singing, playing, creating and movement.

About Me

My name is Rachel, I teach K-5 elementary music in Oklahoma. This fall I will start my seventh year of teaching. I also teach an extracurricular Choir and Instrument Club for fourth and fifth graders. I am Kodály certified (#praiseZoltan) and I am so grateful to have this amazing training! If you are debating about taking levels, don't debate any longer! They will transform your teaching in the best way. I also love to use instruments in my room, since I have an instrumental background as a clarinetist and pianist. I teach a growing studio of clarinet students, accompany and play the occasional gig when I can fit it in my schedule. In 2017 I was chosen as a Fund for Teachers fellow to Austria, where I walked in the footsteps of Beethoven, Mozart, and Haydn and performed their music in a music festival! It was a life-changing experience with an incredible organization! I am a big fan of #fundforteachers !

I really love what I do and I'm excited to share some of my ideas. Thanks for visiting!
